We all know spring often means “spring cleaning,” and there are a lot of closets and drawers being cleaned out in our homes.

Where to Donate in Fargo & Moorhead

There are a number of thrift stores, organizations, and consignment stores around the Fargo-Moorhead area you can bring your gently used goods to.

Donation Hours: Donations are accepted Monday-Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday 12:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Not Accepted Items: Mattress & boxsprings, non-working electronics, tube TVs, cribs, car seats, text books, metal desks, building products, food/medication/vitamins, air purifiers & dehumidifiers, organs & pianos, exercise equipment.

How your donation helps: Funding from their thrift stores provides advocacy and social programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

 

Caring Closet at First United Methodist Church

Donation Hours: They are open Monday-Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Not Accepted Items: Kids clothes and shoes ONLY, newborn to teen in all sizes.

How your donation helps: Helps local families in need provide clothing to their children.

 

Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch

(Several Locations throughout Fargo-Moorhead)
Drop off  Pick-up by appointment

Donation Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from Noon – 4:00 p.m., or until the store’s donation space is full.

Not Accepted Items: Batteries, mattresses & frames, oil/paint, tires, TVs older than 7 years, non-working appliances, windows & doors, carpet, water beds, pianos/organs, metal desks, exercise equipment.

How your donation helps: Funding from their thrift stores helps support their residential treatment and educational centers for children and their families.

 

Goodwill

Not Accepted Items: TVs, computers/monitors, stereos, large appliances, mattresses & waterbeds, BBQ grills, encyclopedias or dictionaries, exercise equipment, paint, building materials.

How your donation helps: Funding from their thrift stores supports Easter Seals and their goal to provide services for persons with physical and developmental disabilities and also people who are socially and economically disadvantaged, and/or have disabilities.

 

Habitat for Humanity ReStore

Drop off  Pick-up by appointment

Donation Hours: Tuesday – Friday 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Accepts: Gently-used furniture, cabinets, and other home construction materials (plumbing, kitchen and bath fixtures, flooring, doors and windows, electrical, etc.). Please see their list here to see all items they do and do not accept.

How your donations helps: Funding from their thrift store supports their mission to eliminate substandard housing through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; advocate for fair and just housing policies; and provide training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.

How your donation helps: Funding from their thrift store helps Hospice of the Red River Valley carry our their mission to bring comfort and dignity to patients at the end of life.

Not Accepted Items: Furniture, TVs, VHS tapes, computers, monitors/printers, opened cleaners, paint or other chemicals, Baby items (cribs, walkers, jumpers, pack n plays or carseats, and broken or unusable items.

Savers Thrift Store

St. Francis Thrift Store

How your donation helps: Funding from their thrift store provides direct assistance with housing, rent, utility, and medical bills for those in need.

 

St. Vincent De Paul Society

Accepts ONLY: Gently used baby clothing and supplies. Please contact them at 218-477-1977 to ensure they are accepting specific items. Please note they are only open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m.

How your donation helps: Birthright helps women navigate unplanned pregnancies by providing information, referrals, and resources.

 

Down Home

Donation Hours: Please call before donating to ensure need and space in their warehouse. Hours are Monday – Thursday 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. 

Accepts ONLY: See their current wishlist items here. Gently-used furniture and home decor. *Please call ahead to ensure specific items are needed before donating.

How your donation helps: Down Home provides furniture, decor, and home necessities for individuals transitioning out of homelessness into housing.

 

Furniture Mission of the Red River Valley

Donation Hours: Wednesdays between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. or by appointment.

Accepts ONLY: See their current needs list here. Warehouse is open every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for furniture drop-offs.

How your donation helps: FMRRV helps people in crisis including, individuals or families who have suffered loss of their household belongings due to fire, storms, or flood or people starting a new life after homelessness, significant financial loss, abusive situations, or incarceration.

How your donation helps: They provide donations to anyone in need of household items, clothing, and shoes.

 

The Perry Center

Donation Hours: Please call for current needs and to set up a donation time.

Accepts ONLY: Gently-used baby clothes, blankets, and strollers (see their full needs list here). Please call ahead to ensure items are currently needed and space is available.

How your donation helps: Items are provided to pregnant mothers at their residential program.

 

YWCA Cass Clay

Donation Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (ring the buzzer)

Accepts ONLY: Please see their current Urgent Needs List or call ahead to see if they are taking any specific items.

For all other items, please donate at the Saver’s location above. 

How your donation helps: Donations are provided to residents and their families at their Emergency Shelter for women and children escaping domestic violence, homelessness, and other crisis situations.
