If you’re like me, planning a craft often feels like an all day event, with most of the time spent on preparation and cleanup.
But here are three fun and easy fall crafts to keep kids entertained and help them get creative!
3 Easy Fall Crafts
1. Sensory Farm Bin
Bring the fall farm experience indoors with this sensory activity that lets kids build and play on their very own mini farm! It’s a simple option that provides tons of imaginative fun.
What You’ll Need:
- A large plastic bin or container
- Farm animal toys (cows, pigs, horses, etc.)
- Toy ladders, fences, and trees
- Rice cakes (crunched up to look like hay)
- Optional: Blue Jello to create a pond or water trough
Instructions:
- Start by setting up the farm in the bin. Add the toy animals, fences, and ladders to create a miniature farm setup.
- Crush rice cakes into small pieces to mimic hay and scatter them around the bin. This adds texture and a sensory element for your child to explore.
- For an extra touch, mold blue Jello into a pond or water trough for the animals. You can also add small stones or fabric pieces for pathways.
- Let your little one enjoy their farm! They can move the animals around, feed them hay, and play pretend farm life.
2. Handprint Ghosts
This spooky (and cute) handprint ghost is a simple clay craft that your little one will love making, just in time for Halloween! It’s also a keepsake you can cherish for years to come.
What You’ll Need:
- Air-dry clay
- Black marker
- Colored Paint
- Optional: Googly eyes for added fun
Instructions:
- Start by rolling out a ball of air-dry clay to flatten it.
- Then help your child press their hand firmly into the clay to create an imprint.
- Once the handprint is made, let the clay dry completely (follow the clay’s drying instructions).
- When it’s dry, flip the handprint upside down so the fingers are pointing downward — this is your ghost shape!
- Use a black marker (or paint) to outline the handprint and draw a ghostly face. You can also add googly eyes for a fun, playful look.
- Make sure to add the date and name of the artist on the back of it!
3. Fall Leaf Sun Catchers
These leaf sun catchers bring a pop of fall color to your windows and are an easy craft for kids of all ages.
What You’ll Need:
- Wax paper or clear contact paper
- Tissue paper (in red, orange, yellow, and brown)
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- String or tape to hang
Instructions:
- Start by cutting leaf shapes out of the wax paper or clear contact paper. You can draw the shape beforehand and cut it out together.
- Tear or cut small pieces of tissue paper in fall colors.
- Use a glue stick to attach the tissue paper pieces onto the leaf shapes, layering different colors to create a stained-glass effect.
- Once the glue has dried then hang the leaves on the window using string or tape. Watch how the sunlight shines through the colorful paper!
