Aren’t we lucky? We live in an area that boasts countless date night restaurants in Fargo. Everything from breweries, food trucks, upscale gourmet, and loads of culturally-diverse options.

So if you’re ready to grab your date and head out for a night of tasty cuisine, here are my top picks.

Wasabi Sushi & Asian Grill

My husband and I have loved this place for almost 15 years (fun fact: he actually proposed to me just outside this restaurant). In my opinion, they have the best sushi rolls in town. If you’re heading there, be sure to try the Corona roll — the thinly sliced lime on top is delightful. And for the full experience, pair it with a glass of wine, Miso soup, and an ahi tuna salad.

Porter Creek Hardwood Grill

Any time of year this restaurant is a solid option. They offer a charming outdoor patio, as well as a cozy atmosphere inside. I lean toward seafood when dining out and have been blown away by their salmon, scallops, and Arctic char dishes. You really can’t go wrong with this one.

Maxwells

I’ll be honest — we’ve only been here a handful of times. This price point is on the higher end, but if you’re celebrating something big and want to splurge, Maxwells is an excellent choice. Their lobster fettuccini features homemade squid ink pasta and is a truly outstanding entree.

Junkyard Brewery

I’d pick this one for not only date night, but also book club, girls’ night out, or even just a “grab a quick pint with friends” spot. The ever-changing variety of beers on tap are always impressive, the popcorn is delicious, and you can order creative dishes from Sol Ave. Kitchen right next door (at the Moorhead location). It’s always a fun time.

Beer & Fish Company

With a light and Caribbean feel to its decor, it’s such a fun place to enjoy tasty seafood dishes. You have to try their shrimp cocktail and Baja tacos. Plus, their drink menu is a winner.

Luna Fargo

Their cozy atmosphere, small-but-mighty menu, and unique desserts will win you over. For the ultimate experience, I recommend starting with their cheese plate. Bonus points: it’s quiet enough to truly relax and enjoy great conversation along with your fabulous meal.

So the next time you’re faced with the seemingly difficult, “Where should we eat?” question, feel free to grab one of my favorite date night go-to’s. You won’t be disappointed.

After many years working in the long term care field, Jenna traded her Housing Director role to become a stay-at-home mom. Nowadays you can find her alongside her husband Elliot, raising their three little girls (Beatrice, Hazel, and Charlie) in West Fargo. In her free time, Jenna enjoys playing volleyball, reading a great book, or trying a new recipe in the kitchen. Her perfect day would start with an amazing cup (or two) of coffee and be filled with as much laughter and delicious food as possible.
