Encourage kids to get involved in the community with kids’ service clubs in Fargo. With a focus on learning, developing leadership skills, and helping others, these clubs can help teach children empathy, compassion, and kindness — along with valuable life skills!

Kids’ Service Clubs in Fargo

4-H

This youth development organization focuses on hands-on real life experience. 4H works to create community, welcoming people of all beliefs and backgrounds (from Kindergarten on).

Check out local programs, 4-H clubs in Cass County and Minnesota 4-H clubs, and discover leadership events, service projects, and camps offering guided outdoor experiences.

American Heritage Girls

Started in 1995, this is a faith-based program with an emphasis on character growth. American Heritage Girls has a focus on Christian values and family development, promoting “faith, service, and fun.” This program is structured for girls ages five to 18.

Scouting America

Scouting America (formerly the Boys Scouts of America) provides fun and adventure while helping kids learn values and important life skills. Also, they promote service and leadership training.

They offer Cub Scouts (for Kindergarten though fifth grade), then various programs for kids ages 10 to 20 years old.

The Northern Lights Council covers North Dakota, Northwest Minnesota, and two counties in both South Dakota and Montana.

Fargo Youth Initiative

Designed for young people looking to have their voices heard. Representatives have a chance to improve their community while serving on an advisory board to the Fargo City Commission. Participants have the job of relaying the current issues and needs of youth in Fargo.

Interested high schoolers can complete an application to be considered for membership. Applications can be completed year-round, and then are reviewed once a year in the fall.

The Fargo Youth Initiative is looking for representatives from Fargo Public High Schools, for each school and grade — including Fargo North, Fargo South, Davies, and Northern Cass. In addition, applicants should be responsible and have leadership qualities.

Girl Scouts

Girls in Kindergarten up to 12th grade can try new things, learn valuable skills, and make friends in Girl Scouts.

The local Dakota Horizons offers girls the opportunity to give back to the community through service projects and encourages adventure in the form of camping and summer camp.
