Apple Smash

Lil’ Bitz Pumpkin Patch

Days: Open from September 17 – October 30, Fridays & Sundays 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. & Saturdays 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Location: Lil’ Bitz Pumpkin Patch, 7414 40th Ave N Fargo, ND

This family-owned pumpkin patch is right in Fargo and has over 25 attractions to enjoy. Including a new ninja course! Horse-drawn carriage rides, pumpkin picking, games, and more will keep the kiddos entertained for hours. It’s a must-see! Cost is $9.00 per person (ages 1 and under free); Military admission is $7.00 (ID required).

Scarecrows in the Garden

Day: Saturday, September 17th from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Location: Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society, 1211 28th Ave N, Fargo

Scarecrows have taken over the Northern Plains Botanic Garden and you’re invited to shop them all! Come see the scarecrows on display and tour the picturesque gardens as they show off their end of summer colors and transition to autumn shades. Shop their pumpkins and fall market while you enjoy a savory bite from Heart-n-Soul Community Café.

Fall Festival at Moorhead Center Mall

Day: Saturday, September 17th from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Join the Moorhead Center Mall for some local music as well as some vendors joining in the halls!

Fall in Fargo

Fargo Masonic Vendor & Craft Show

Days: September 24, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Come start shopping for the holidays with small businesses at the Fargo Masonic Center from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.. Lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Farm in the Dell Fall Festival

Days: September 24 & 25, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Location: Farm in the Dell, 7426 40th St N, Moorhead

Have some fun at the Farm! They’ll have games, concessions, smoked pork loin, barrel train rides, crafts, a bake sale, and pumpkins for a fun family outing! And admission to the event is free.

Apple Harvest Festival 

Days: September 25 at 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Location: Wild Terra Cider, 6 12th St N, Fargo

Featuring harvest games, petting zoo, fall goods and craft presenters, cider pressing demostrations and samples, live music, and two bars serving cider, beer, and wine.

Haunted Landscape Scenes

Days: September 30 at 6:00 p.m.

Location: Plains Art Museum, 704 1st Ave N, Fargo

Craft a scary scene with spooky houses, tombstones, ghosts, spindly trees, and any other scary things you can think of. Work together as a group to make a scary setting to display. Best suited for kids ages 6+ and their favorite adult(s). Please register one individual for the entire group

Haunted Farm

Days: Fridays & Saturdays from September 30 – October 31, open from 7:00 – 11:00 p.m.

Location: 1947 130th Ave S, Moorhead

Fifteen haunted attractions make up the Haunted Farm including a haunted house, maze, and a scary walk through the woods. This attraction is more appropriate for older kids. Please see their Facebook page for more information.

Lost in the Valley Corn Maze & Pumpkin Patch

Fall Tap Fest

West Acres’ Fall Tap Fest is BACK and bigger than ever! Join them every Saturday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., in Aquarium Court (in front of Best Buy) for an array of local breweries, wineries and cideries + live performances from some of your local favorites!

Moorhead Sausage Fest

Days: Saturday, October 1 from 2:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Location: First Presbyterian Church, 2900 5th St S, Moorhead

Enjoy a BIG sausage from NDSU Meat Science with German sides from Wurst Bier Hall and a non-alcoholic beverage, all included in the ticket price! Ticket price also includes admission and activities including live music, a fall vendor market, a bouncy house, contests including stein hoisting, log sawing and hammering, and best German attire.

Spooky Movie in the Park

Days: Saturday, October 1 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Location: Heritage Garden & Amphitheater, Woodlawn Park Drive, Moorhead

Enjoy a FREE spooky evening for your family at the Heritage Garden & Amphitheater at Woodlawn Park in Moorhead. There will be art activities and the movie will begin at sundown. Popcorn, drinks, hand sanitizer, and bug spray will be provided. Bring your own blankets or chairs!

Spooky Space

Days: October 1 & 8 at 11:00 a.m. | October 2 & 9 at 3:00 p.m.

Location: MSUM Planetarium, 1104 7th Ave S, Moorhead

This show for ages 6+ introduces you to popular Halloween characters and their spooky counterparts in space. Ghosts become nebulae and vampires become black holes in this fulldome show for the Halloween season. Tickets are available online.

Drekker Punkin Bash

Days: October 2, 12:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Location: Drekker Brewing, 1666 1st Ave N, Fargo

This FREE fall festival has tons of fun for the whole family! Including pumpkins, food, Fall drinks, games, bouncy houses, petting zoo, vendors and activities and plenty of spots to get that perfect Fall photo.

Fall Festival

Days: October 2, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Location: Baker Garden & Gift, 2733 University Dr S, Fargo

Head to Baker Garden & Gift for this free event! Activities include a scarecrow photo booth, warm apple cider, and Windsor Waffles food truck. Also, there will be mini pumpkin painting (please RSVP for each child) and register for the event online.

Pumpkulents

Days: October 6, 5:30 p.m.

Location: Baker Garden & Gift, 2733 University Dr S, Fargo

Come make your own long-lasting autumn arrangement at Baker Garden & Gift. These “pumpkulents” are a pumpkin decorated with succulents. They are a fun way to give color inside the home. Choose from their rainbow selection of succulents, add some dried moss, and itsy-bitsy alder tree cones collected from our property. And add any other foraged materials. Let your creativity roam! Tickets are $15 each and please purchase tickets online in advance of the event.

Horace Fall Festival 

Days: October 8, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Location: Horace Senior Center, 214 Thue Court, Horace

Check out their fantastic vendors and artists for a day of fun and shopping, with lunch available.

Marvelously Macabre Mobiles

Days: October 8, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Location: The Rourke Art Gallery + Museum, 521 Main Ave, Moorhead

Learn how to cut, sew, and stuff your own goofy ghosts and hang them from a marvelously macabre mobile. Supplies and equipment are provided by the instructor and costumes are encouraged, but not required. Course fee is $50 and registration is required. For children ages 7-8 or older (family-friendly, but will be using needles).​

Spookley the Square Pumpkin Meet & Greet

Days: October 8 & 9, 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Location: Nelson’s Pumpkin Patch, 2448 20th Ave NE, Emerado, ND

Octoberfest at MCM

Head to the mall for vendor sales and some great deals at a few of their shops! Also, featuring garage sales at K & Krafts, and The 3 Bees.

St. Joseph’s Annual Bazaar

Days: October 9, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Location:St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 218 10th St S, Moorhead

This year’s bazaar features a sweet shop, raffle, bingo (with cash prizes!), vendor fair, and kids games. Dinner and dessert are available and must be purchased in advance. See their website to purchase tickets.

Autumn Pumpkin Party

Days: October 9, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Location:SheyWest, 225 40th Ave W, West Fargo

Visit SheyWest  for a festive afternoon filled with art and craft projects and pumpkin painting (pumpkins available for purchase while supplies last). And check out the build-a-scarecrow corner! They’ll provide the straw and twine; you provide the old clothes and accessories to make your very own straw friend.

Libraries Dance! Spooky Ballet

Days: October 12, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Location:Main Library, 102 3rd St N, Fargo

F-M Ballet and Gasper’s School of Dance will be at the Main Library for dancing and fun! This event will include a brief dance lesson, stories, and snacks, so have kids wear clothes/costumes they can move in! This dance storytime is geared toward children ages three and up. Grace UMC Fall Festival

Days: October 15, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Location: Grace United Methodist Church, 1120 17th St S, Moorhead

Join Grace UMC for their annual Fall Festival! Donuts and coffee will be served from 8:00 to 11:00 am. Take home a plate of delicious goodies or hand made crafts and projects. Browse around the silent auction and rummage sale. Lunch of hot dogs and chips will be available from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for a free will offering.

Fall: Leaves and Hibernation

Days: October 15, 8:30 – 10:15 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.

Location: Vista Center for Education, Room 2, 2777 34th St S, Moorhead

Come with some of your favorite leaves! Turn them into leaf wreaths and explore how animals hibernate during the winter. Best for young children, this event is held through Moorhead Community Education/Early Childhood Family Education.

Trunk-A-Palooza

Days: October 15, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Location: Bethel Church, 2702 30th Ave S, Fargo

Join the fun at the Bethel Church parking lot for a time of family-friendly games, food, and treats for all. They will have over 40 decorated trunks handing out candy, free food booths, a train barrel ride, and bounce houses!

Fargo Masonic Vendor & Craft Show

Days: October 15, 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Come and enjoy a fun atmosphere with small businesses. This month there will be treats for those with a sweet tooth.

The Skies Over Hogwarts

Days: October 15, 22, & 29 at 11:00 a.m. | October 16, 23, & 30 at 3:00 p.m.

Location: MSUM Planetarium, 1104 7th Ave S, Moorhead

Visit the MSUM Planetarium for this special Halloween show! Just like the enchanted ceiling of the great hall, the planetarium dome can shows the stars and constellations of the night sky. Learn about the stars and constellations that inspired some of the famous characters and also create some of our own Harry Potter-inspired constellations. Costumes are encouraged. Tickets are available online.

Following this show there will be a preview of their new laser system! It will include strobing lights and audience members will be warned and given the chance to exit before the preview if needed.

Boo at the Zoo

Days: October 15, 22, & 29, 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

This annual event at the Red River Zoo is always a good time! Put on your best Halloween mask and trick-or-treat at the zoo.

Horribly Horrific Horticulture

Days: October 15, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Location: The Rourke Art Gallery + Museum, 521 Main Ave, Moorhead

Watch your fingers, because these plants bite! In Horribly Horrific Horticulture, you get to paint, put together, and plant. Supplies and equipment are provided by the instructor and costumes are encouraged, but not required. Course fee is $65 and registration is required.

Fargo Public Library Pumpkin Decorating

Halloween Cupcake Wars

Days: October 20, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Location: West Fargo Public Library, 215 3rd St E, West Fargo

Middle school and high school students (including homeschool or online learners) are invited to join the West Fargo Public Library for their version of Cupcake Wars. Attendees will decorate spooky and delicious cupcakes and vote on them to determine the ultimate Halloween Cupcake Champion! The library will provide the cupcakes and everything you need to decorate them.

Pumpkin Party Pick-Up

Tunnel of Terror: Tommy’s Express Moorhead

Haunted Forest, 2022 Season

Come out to the Haunted Forest for one of four nights, along with all of your friends, for a trek through one of west central Minnesota’s freakiest abandoned camps. Monster Bash – Parents Night Out

Days: October 21, 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Join this Parents Night Out event! Come dressed in your costume, ready for a night of fun with two bounce houses, group games, movie room, crafts, dodgeball, dance party room, a 40-foot trampoline, ninja obstacle course, and more. Don’t forget to bring food and a water bottle! Open to all ages three years and older. Students must be able to use the bathroom independently. The Nightmare Before Christmas – Halloween @ the Fargo Theatre

Spooktacular Family Halloween Carnival 

Days: October 26, 6:30 p.m.

The family Spooktacular event is back! And will feature trunk-or-treating, bounce houses,

Not-So-Spooky Halloween Playdate at FBA

Days: October 27, 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Kids can wear their costumes for open gym time with bounce houses, scooters, and sports equipment. No pre-registration is required for this fun, active morning and the cost is $7 per child at the door.

Enjoy a family-friendly carnival and trick-or-treating event open to the public! NDSU student organizations/groups will host booths throughout Cater Hall where children can participate in games, crafts, and other Halloween activities. In addition, five residence halls will be open for trick-or-treating (Cater, Sevrinson, Seim, Pavek and Thompson). Maps of the participating residence halls can be picked up at the carnival in Cater Hall.

Family Trivia Night: Halloween & Other Spooky Stuff

Rally your relatives for family trivia night at the Main Library! Halloween & Other Spooky Stuff is Family Trivia Night’s theme for Thursday, October 27th. Family trivia night is open to individuals, families, or teams of all ages – trivia works best for kids who are reading independently. Prizes will be awarded for the top winners and snacks for all! Join the second annual Trunk or Treat at Chik-fil-A for a fun filled night of trick-or-treating from car to car. Bring the whole family and dress up in your best costumes!

Halloween in Horace

Days: October 28, 6:00 p.m.

Location: Horace Community Center, 214 Thue Court, Horace

Join the second annual Halloween in Horace event at the Senior Center for prizes, dancing, and fun! The event will feature a costume contest, games and prizes, a 1-mile glow run, treats, and more!

Trunk or Treat at Good Shepherd

Days: October 28, 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Location: Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 4000 28th St S, Moorhead

A fun family event for kids of all ages! Games and prizes in the gym and classrooms, and trunk or treating in the East Parking Lot. They are also collecting donations of winter gloves for children at local schools. Find the bins located at the welcome table.

Halloween Glow

Days: October 28 & 29, 8:00 – 10:00 p.m.

Come to SkyZone Friday, October 28th and Saturday, October 29th for a spooky glow and show off your best costume!

F-M Halloween Run

Celebrate Halloween and a love of running at the same time! There are several events to choose from. First, a Friday Night 5k. Free Fall Photos

Days: October 29, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Location: West Acres Mall, 3902 13th Ave S, Fargo

Bring out the family and get FREE photos taken in front of a festive fall setup! Photos will take place in the West Acres Fountain Court with the talented Elisabeth Eden behind the camera!
Photos will be done on a first come, first serve basis and will include a few shots of your group in front of our setup. The line for photos will open up no earlier than 9:50 a.m. – please do not line up prior to this time. If there is still a line towards the end of the event, we will cut off the line at 1:45 p.m. If you plan to come in the afternoon, please plan to arrive before that time.
Photos will be available a few days after the event, with downloading and printing rights.

Family Halloween Event at Reese & Riley’s Olive Oil & Bistro

They’ll  post the pictures on Facebook and the one with the most ‘likes’ will win a scream-worthy prize! The winner will be announced on Halloween day. And the pumpkin carving contest starts now. Carve a Swing Barrel-themed pumpkin, take a picture, and send it to them. Bonus points if you bring them to the taproom! Winner will be announced on Halloween day.

Trick or Treat Wish Walk

Join this community trick-or-treating event hosted by the Downtown Community Partnership and participating Downtown businesses! 100% of profits are donated to Make-A-Wish ND. Pick up a candy bag at the DCP tent at the Red River Market for a suggested donation of $5 per child, then proceed to the participating businesses to collect their candy.

FM Area Youth Symphonies Fall Concert

Days: October 30, 7:00 p.m.

All three orchestras of FMAYS will be performing on October 30th, with a mix of classics and Halloween-themed repertoire. The finale will be a special collaboration of all orchestras playing “Ghostbusters” together!
