Best Seafood Restaurants in Fargo

Living in the Midwest, we are so far from the ocean. It can be hard to find good seafood —and I’m not talking about Red Lobster. Although growing up that was our go-to!

Thankfully, Fargo-Moorhead has a growing restaurant scene, so it’s getting easier to find delicious seafood locally.

Here are some of my favorites:

Seafood Restaurants in Fargo

1. Oasis Restaurant & Bar

First place on my list is Oasis. This Asian Fusion restaurant is known for their seafood boils. And they also serve crab, crawfish, shrimp, scallops, salmon, seabass, lobster, and seafood spaghetti. Their fried options include hush puppies and po’ boy sandwiches.

I tried their glazed Chilean sea bass which was well-cooked and full of flavor.

2. Beer & Fish Company

Another popular place in town is Beer & Fish. If you’re looking for some classic fish and chips, theirs are good!

The server recommended I try the halibut tacos. It is a favorite for most diners and I had to agree, they were very tasty. I never had tried halibut before, and I quite enjoyed it. The lobster mac and cheese and coconut shrimp are also popular.

If you like a little spice, try the Bang Bang Shrimp. And if you’re feeling adventurous, try the oysters!

3. Casa Mexico

You wouldn’t necessarily think a Mexican restaurant is a place to go for seafood. But Casa Mexico (on 13th Ave S) has many options on their menu, mainly with shrimp and tilapia.

I tried the 7 Mares soup. It has shrimp, crab, scallops, squid and so many other things in it. Not my favorite, but my husband loved it. And I also got the Arroz con Marsicos, which is broiled scallops and shrimp served over rice. It was very flavorful.

4. Maxwells

Maxwells Restaurant also has some seafood options on their menu. I really enjoyed the sea scallops and the sesame seared ahi tuna appetizers. Other seafood items include the grilled salmon piccata, blackened walleye, and lobster fettuccine.

There are more places around town with seafood options on their menus. I haven’t tried these personally, but have heard they are good.

84 Italian Steakhouse:

Although it’s a steakhouse, they also have seafood. A little surf and turf! They have a few seafood appetizers including mussels, breaded calamari, and shrimp cocktail. On their menu they have a Lobster Thermador I want to try and they also serve walleye and salmon.

Mezzaluna:

I’ve heard that Mezzaluna also has good seafood. Some of their options include seared scallops, shrimp fettuccine, blackened shrimp, and halibut.

Crave:

Also worth checking out is Crave in the West Acres Mall. I thought all they had was sushi —was I ever wrong! They have tons of seafood apps, poke bowls, and even swordfish and seabass.

The next time you are in the mood for seafood in Fargo, I hope you give one of these restaurants a try. Or, visit Deep Blue Seafood to order some fresh fish from their market to cook at home!
