Natural Play Hill and Red River Corridor Trail Exploring
A bit hidden from the road, the playground is nestled along the Red River and surrounded by trees. It’s the perfect nature escape, paired with playground fun! The Red River Corridor trail is a 16-mile trail that runs from Bluestem Amphitheater to the Oakport neighborhood in north Moorhead. There are 17 historical markers that share a different part of Moorhead’s history, and close to 10 of them are located around the Riverfront Park area where the Natural Play Hill is located. Children’s Garden
Tucked away in north Fargo is a magical world including Japanese, Woodland and Fairy gardens, and even an edible forest tour! There is endless exploring and learning in all the beauty that this magical garden has to offer! 
Rope & Oak
Think of a playground, obstacle course, scavenger hunt, and nature museum all rolled into one adventure! Located just 20 miles south of Fargo, you can explore 12 acres of forest, with over 50 attractions to climb, dig, build, explore, learn and play. There is a fee to play, and make sure to check hours and their Facebook page for updates, as they will close on rainy or hot days.
Lindenwood Park and Gooseberry Mound Park
This centrally-located park on the Red River in Fargo has a lot to offer! From great walking and biking trails and an inclusive playground to surrey, bike and kayak rentals, this park is the perfect place to spend the morning or afternoon. And then head across a wooden lift bridge that takes you over the Red River into Moorhead to explore Gooseberry Mound Park.
Outdoor Movie
What’s a more nostalgic adventure than an outdoor movie experience? The Fargo area over has 5 locations that host outdoor movies in the summer for free! See this article for a full list of when they are scheduled this summer.
Ten Seven Acres
Head 30 minutes south of Fargo to explore the Ten Seven Acres Alpaca Farm in Galchutt, North Dakota during their open farms days. Meet the alpacas, chickens, horses, donkey, and even a mini horse! The open farm days are free to attend, but there is a fee to take an alpaca on a nature walk.
Produce Picking or Fresh Flower Farm at Farm in the Dell
Located in North Moorhead, this non-profit farm offers u-pick berries, produce, and wildflower events! Strawberry picking typically happens for a few weeks in late June and early July, and produce picking and wildflowers start in mid-July and continues through September. Picking events are usually Mondays and Thursdays, but make sure to check their website and Facebook page for updates on dates, times, and availability!
Explore Trails at Orchard Glenn and Forest River Park
In Orchard Glenn, explore the short dirt trails, perfect for little legs. It’s nice and shaded with some small hills along the Red River. There are also spots to catch wildflowers and apple blossoms (if you are there in early May!). Pick a few apples from the many apple trees when you visit in September.
Biking or Hiking at Riverwood Park
This North Fargo neighborhood park has a secluded paved trail shaded by mature trees. The trail has many curves and hills to create some fun speed. They also have a great playground to stop and play at!
Fish at Woodhaven Pond
Whether you’re a beginner or an experience fisher, the fishing pond at Woodhaven Park is a great spot to cast a line! The Fargo Park District along with the North Dakota Game and Fish Department have stocked this fishing pond with Rainbow Trout, Bluegills, and Largemouth Bass. They also have an ADA accessible fishing ramp.
