Looking to get outside and enjoy nature this summer? One way to explore locally is to check out the Red River! Rent a kayak and see our area from a different point of view. Here’s where to rent kayaks in Fargo and where to go kayaking!

Where to Rent Kayaks

Hjemkomst Landing

River Keeper’s Rental Shack

202 1st Ave N, Moorhead

Single and tandem kayaks and canoes are available to rent through a partnership between River Keepers and Moorhead Parks and Recreation. Rentals include paddles and life jackets. And they’re available on a first-come first-served basis.

Cost is $10 per hour, then after the first hour the rate is prorated dependent on how long the kayak/canoe is out of the water.

Group rentals are available, but reservations must be made 14 business days in advance. And the schedule is subject to staff availability. Also, group reservations are not available during normal rental hours and a two hour minimum is required (or a $100 minimum rental fee). Call (218) 299-5296 for group reservations.

Lindenwood Park

Call (701) 356-2106 to verify hours and if rentals are available.

Kayaks are available for rent by the hour at a rate of $10 per hour. The rental rate includes a life jacket and paddle.

A person must be over 18 years of age to sign the rental contract. Any person over the age of 12 is able to be in an individual kayak (kids under the age of 12 can’t be in the rental kayaks).

*Please note, kayak rentals may not be available if river levels exceed 17 feet or flow rates are below 1500 cfs on the paddling scale rating. Please call (701) 356-2106 in order to verify if rentals are available.

This rental company provides kayak rentals for a 4-hour rate, daily rate, or weekend rate. Must be 18 or older to rent.

Try a River Paddling Excursion!

River Keepers hosts paddling excursion on Wednesday evenings throughout the summer. This is a chance to enjoy a leisurely paced group paddle and to explore with local experts who share their knowledge of the Red River.

Each excursion begins at 6:00 p.m. (but please arrive at 5:30 p.m.) and starts with an overview of the basics of kayaking, canoeing, and safety. Also, pre-registration is required.

The cost is $10/person if providing own vessel and $15/person if needing canoe or kayak rental (available on a first come, first serve basis), ages 5 and under are free. To register contact Moorhead Parks and Recreation or call (218) 299-5340.
