It’s almost time for the Easter bunny to hop into town! Is your basket ready? It’s easy to fill a basket for toddlers and younger children. Throw some sidewalk chalk, bubbles, and candy in a basket and you’re good to go. But, those older elementary kids can be harder to buy for.

Here are some Easter basket ideas for older kids!

Books

Our Easter baskets always have at least one book in them. Think beyond the bunny-themed board books and choose stories that captivate their imaginations. For younger kids, consider books like Magic Tree House which combines adventure with history. Older children might enjoy diving into the adventures of Diary of a Wimpy Kid or the mythical world of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Games

A board game is always a surefire hit. Add a fun board game to the basket like Guess Who, Connect 4, or the fast-paced Spot It. A household favorite is Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza!

Outdoor Fun

Encourage outdoor play with sports equipment and yard games. Consider a football, soccer ball, or even a yard game like croquet. If there’s a specific sport they are involved in, get them something new to play (e.g. baseball glove, dance shoes, etc.).

If they don’t need new equipment, a water bottle with some vinyl stickers is always a hit!

Swim Gear

If your kids love the water, surprise them with a new swimsuit or pair of goggles. Perfect for our upcoming lake adventures or pool days! Sandals, new sand toys, or a fun beach towel of their favorite character are also great choices.

Snuggle Time

Kids adore snuggling with their favorite stuffed animals. If they still love stuffed animals, add a Squishmallow. These huggable plush toys come in lots of adorable designs.

Kite

We live in a windy area. Add a kite to their basket to turn our blustery days into kite-flying adventures!

Art Supplies

Art supplies are a great basket filler. If your child has outgrown children’s coloring books, look for adult coloring books. If you enjoy coloring, get one for yourself at the same time. The intricate details, along with a set of fancy colored pencils, provide a wonderful way to spend quality time together.

Gift Cards

As kids get older, we know they love picking out their own stuff. Add in a small Target or Amazon gift card to let them do the shopping!

Beauty Products

Are they into the latest skincare routine? Or starting to use more make-up? Get them some fun beauty products like nail polish, make-up brushes and accessories, or even an eye mask for sleeping.

Remember that you don’t have to spend much money on Easter basket ideas for older kids. Choose items that fit within their interest. Finally, you can add an extra layer of excitement by organizing a scavenger hunt with the Easter basket as the grand prize! Be creative this year as you get your Easter basket ready!
