More Than Therapy: Beyond Boundaries Special Programs

This article is sponsored by Beyond Boundaries Therapy & Wellness

When parents think of pediatric therapy, they likely envision their child requiring a specific diagnosis. Or, they think they should have an intense need in order to get support. But often, children may be struggling with a specific issue with no other co-occurring diagnoses, and could benefit from therapy to help them grow and develop in a healthy way.

At Beyond Boundaries Therapy & Wellness, there are over 20 special therapy programs designed to meet the needs of all children!

Below, we’ll dive into some of those special programs. We will share more about how they work hard every day to serve families in our community, from addressing feeding and nutrition needs, to potty-training, sleep, reading, and more.

Beyond Boundaries Therapy & Wellness: Special Programs

Beyond the Scale

Launched in late 2025, Beyond the Scale is a coordinated weight loss treatment clinic supporting children and teens (ages 5-18). It aims to support the healthy growth and development of a child through collaborations with specialists in Medical (alongside ima Healthcare), PT, OT, Mental Health, and Nutrition. The goal is to build skills, confidence, and lifelong healthy habits without focusing solely on the number on a scale.

Beyond Boundaries helps families look at the big picture to monitor over health, build strength and increase movement, set consistent routines, build self-esteem, develop healthy coping strategies, and explore food in a positive way.

Potty Training Support

Sometimes potty training doesn’t come as easy for some children. Extra support can often make a huge difference in their success!

Beyond Boundaries offers two programs to support children in toileting skills.

  1. Easy Peasy Potty supports families who have been trying to potty train for months without success. Their trained Occupational Therapists will guide parents through the steps and expectations related to potty training, including sensory preferences, behavioral challenges, and motor development. Then, they will work alongside the family to develop a structured potty-training approach to support their child and help meet their goals.
  2. Pediatric Incontinence Therapy aims to support families that have completed potty-training, but still struggle with issues related to frequent bed-wetting, daytime leaks, and regular, persistent constipation. A combination of Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy will help children increase body awareness, learn constipation management, and strengthen pelvic floor muscles to support improved incontinence issues.

Reading & Literacy

Beyond Boundaries offers reading and spelling support by a trained Literacy specialist. Their approach is unique in that it uses each of a child’s senses when learning rules for spelling and reading words. Not only does this help make the information easier to remember and use, but it also offers a hands-on and FUN approach to learning!

This program can help if you child shows:

  • Difficulty reading or sounding-out words
  • Poor spelling
  • Difficulty learning the connection between letters and sounds
  • Confusing small words such as “the” and “a”
  • Letter reversals
  • Difficulty rhyming

If your child’s reading challenges are related to a vision issue, the Functional Vision Program may be a good fit! It is provided by an occupational therapist to assist in the coordination of the eyes and brain. The program can help improve basic visual skills and abilities, efficiency of reading, improve reading comprehension, and support visual thinking (how the brain interprets visual information). Children need to see well to learn well, and an estimated 15-20% of children suffer from poor functional vision skills.

Other special programs related to speech and hearing include PROMPT (for multiple speech and articulation issues), Hear-Speak-Connect (for children that are deaf or hard of hearing), and Voice Therapy (raspy or hoarse voice).

Feeding Support

You have likely struggled through a picky-eating stage with your child. But, sometimes a child needs more support through Feeding Therapy to overcome specific issues with feeding. Beyond Boundaries uses a team approach to assess and treat both sensory and oral motor-related feeding concerns. The child will work in a kitchen to learn about food, create skills to enjoy eating, and focus on food exposure and sensory experiences.

Some children may struggle with the proper use of orofacial musculature (face, jaw, and mouth) for eating, drinking, and breathing. Support from Orofacial Myology can help with issues like open mouth breathing, drooling, snoring, teeth grinding, and other issues with tongue placement.

If you have an infant and are breastfeeding, Beyond Boundaries also offers support for Lactation & Infant Feeding!
