Hidden Gems in Fargo-Moorhead
Alphabet and Fairy Garden at Northern Plains Botanic Garden Society
The Northern Plains Botanic Garden is a collection of gardens located on six acres of Fargo Park District land at Yunker Park. Overall it takes about 30 minutes to walk through the gardens and this map can help you plan your visit!
The Old Bear Cave Behind Riverhaven Events Center
You can park at the event center and walk around to the northwest side to check out the bear cage. However, when planning your visit, make sure there’s not a wedding that day to avoid crashing a special event.
Red River Discovery Walk
The Discovery Walk is about a four-mile walking tour within the Red River Corridor Trail. Each stop details some history about the region, and you can even listen to audio about each stop on their website. The full trail stretches 16 miles from Oakport to Bluestem Amphitheater. Use this interactive map to help with your self-guided tour.
Tip: If you don’t want to walk the entire thing, we suggest parking at the Hjemkomst Center and walking from there (the trail is behind the building) along the river to the original Homestead Park. You can stop and play at the Natural Play Hill at Riverfront Park along the way!
Orchard Glen Apple Orchard and Trails
Orchard Glen provides plenty of opportunities to see birds and other wildlife in a natural setting along the banks of the Red River. Check out their guidelines for fruit harvesting. And also their map for information on tree varieties and a visual of the trail.
StoryWalks at the Fargo Library

Enjoy a series of permanent signs designed to connect reading and learning with physical activity. This is a self-paced, family-friendly activity, and the signs are spread out to encourage residents of all ages to read, move, and enjoy the outdoors.
Wild Life Seek and Find Mural
You can find the mural in the alley behind Black Coffee and Waffle Bar. Find over 20 hidden pictures in this large colorful mural on the back wall of the building.
The Bridge connecting Lindenwood Park and Gooseberry Mound Park

We love visiting Lindenwood Park and hopping across the river to Moorhead and Gooseberry Mound Park! Note, depending on river levels and recent rain fall, the bridge may be closed. Park hours are 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Monday – Sunday.
Celebrity Walk of Fame
Find over 100 celebrity signatures, handprints and footprints in cement, from Garth Brooks to Bill Gates. Located just outside the visitors center. This area is open 24 hours a day.
Rotary Natural Play Hill and Bike Path at Riverfront Park
This 1.26-acre play hill includes a 26-foot high tree house, zip line, log and boulder areas, play mounds, balance beams, nets and climbing areas. The bike park includes a teeter totter, bridge deck, and rock patch.
MB Johnson Park Trails
MB Johnson Park includes mostly tame trails for walking, biking, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. There are very short trails with bathrooms, water fountains, playgrounds and shelters at the trailhead. Keep in mind some trails are closed when it’s muddy.
