Fargo Parks Summer Events 2023

Fargo Parks has a full lineup of FREE events to get your family outdoors this summer! Check out all the fun activities they have planned throughout the summer below, and make sure to mark your calendar so you don’t miss out on the fun! All events are at local parks throughout Fargo or Broadway Square downtown.

Neighborhood Sport Series

Dates & Locations:

Stop by a neighborhood Fargo park on one of these Tuesdays for two hours of outdoor activities! Kids can develop their athletic skills, build confidence, and foster teamwork in a fun and safe environment. This program is for kids of all ages and skill levels — and it’s free!

Activities include: a free throw challenge, football toss, four-square, Courts Plus youth fitness class, Tri-City United soccer camp, freeze pops, and kids can make their own jersey (this event includes a Fargo Park District t-shirt).

Park It! Art in the Park Series

Dates & Locations:

All events are 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Get creative at Park It! It’s a free art in the park series for kids at a different park each time. Kids have the opportunity to get outside and connect with nature as they create arts and crafts to take home.

All materials are provided and art instructors will be on hand to guide the kids in the creative process. Adult supervision is required.

Midwest Kid Fest

Dates: June 9, 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. 

Location: Island Park

Join the fun at the 24th annual Midwest Kid Fest on Friday June 9th. The day starts with the annual Teddy Bear Parade at 10:30 a.m. and the festival opens at 11:00 am. Activities include live music and entertainment, inflatables, games, a petting zoo, and more!

New this year is the sensory-friendly area featuring sensory toys and activities from Leika Sensory Creations. And a grande finale featuring Penny and Pals and their historical final show starting at 5:00 p.m. You don’t want to miss this day of fun, learning, and laughter!

Yoga in the Park

Dates: Wednesdays, June 7 – August 9, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Location: Rheault Farm

Work up a sweat outdoors at Rheault Farm! Bring your yoga mat and get ready to stretch, breathe, and connect with nature. This is a great opportunity for yogis of all skill levels to unwind and recharge. 

A certified instructor (through the YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties and Courts Plus Community Fitness) will guide participants through a 60-minute yoga session. Admission is a free will donation (minimum $5 suggested) and no pre-registration is required. All donations will benefit United Way and Livestrong. 

Trout Fest

Dates: June 19, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Location: Woodhaven North Pond

Join the fun at this family-friendly event. Trout Fest provides a great experience for young anglers (ages 15 and under) to experience the thrill of catching trout. SCHEELS fishing expert, Scott Stenshoel, will be on hand to give fly fishing technique demonstrations and FM Walleye will help kids cast their lines, reel in their catches, and create lasting memories!

Kids Triathlon

Dates: June 21, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Location: Madison Park & Bicycle Playground

Kids 12 and under can enjoy an action-packed evening at the annual Kids Triathlon. This event promotes health, fitness, and friendly competition. Activities include biking, an obstacle course, and a disc throwing activity.

Kids must bring their own bikes to this event, training wheels are accepted, and bike helmets are required! Team Boaz (a community partnership that collects, repairs, and distributes used bikes) will be at the Kids Triathlon to loan bikes to kids and provide bike repairs.

Entertainment will also be offered for both participants and spectators, including a make your own medal craft activity. See the Fargo Parks website for more information.

701 DayFargo Parks Summer Activities

Dates: July 1, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Location: Broadway Square

Celebrate all things North Dakota at 701 Day! This event showcases all our state has to offer. Events include entertainment, 701 Day themed photo ops, art pieces, farming equipment from RDO Equipment Co., and giveaways.

Movies in the Park

Dates: July 20, July 27 & August 3, dusk (about 8:30 p.m.)

Location: Rheault Farm

  • July 20: Field of Dreams 
  • July 27: The Goonies
  • August 3: The Incredibles

Pack up blankets, chairs, and the whole family to enjoy a movie outdoors at Rheault Farm! Movies will start at dusk, around 8:30 p.m.  

Weekly Wellness at Broadway Square

Get active at Broadway Square as they partner with Courts Plus Community Fitness, Downtown Yoga Fargo, and YMCA instructors to provide a variety of wellness classes this summer!  

Yoga at The Square

Dates: Most Mondays and Wednesdays

Location: Broadway Square

Head to downtown Fargo and find your inner Zen at an outdoor yoga session at Broadway Square! No experience necessary — these yoga classes are designed for people of all fitness and skill levels.

XaBeat at The Square

Dates: Most Sunday evenings

Location: Broadway Square

Experience a high-energy dance class that burns calories! XaBeat is taught by Courts Plus instructors and uses music to turn your workout into a party! This class is intended for all levels of dance or fitness.

Zumba at The Square

Dates: Most Wednesdays

Location: Broadway Square

Get ready to shake, move, and groove your way to fitness at Broadway Square! Zumba (taught by YMCA instructors) is a total workout. It combines all elements of fitness, including cardio, muscle conditioning, balance, flexibility, and will boost your mood.

Music at The Square

Dates: Tuesday evenings from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Location: Broadway Square

Broadway Square’s Music at The Square series is back with more local live music for you to enjoy throughout the summer. Bring your blankets and stretch out on the lawn, or use one of the many cafe tables and chairs around to enjoy snacks, beverages, and live music in the heart of downtown Fargo.

Movies at The SquareFargo Parks summer activities

Dates: Most Thursday evenings

Location: Broadway Square

Broadway Square is hosting this evening series that brings everyone together in front of the Midco Mega Screen at Broadway Square! Enjoy snacks and a memorable movie night in the heart of downtown Fargo. The themes this year are: Super Hero Series, Throwback Series, Family Series, and Dig Art Series.

Chalk Fest

Dates: June 3 & July 1, 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Location: Broadway Square

Artists of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in monthly summer chalk festivals at Broadway Square! Themes and chalk are provided. Also, artists and art instructors are available to help you find the inspiration for your masterpiece.

Gaming Daysfargo parks events

Dates: June 11, July 9, August 6, & September 10, 12:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Location: Broadway Square

Do you love games? Bring your talents to Broadway Square’s monthly summer Gaming Days with Replay Games and play new or old favorite game!
