Where to Get Sleigh Rides in Fargo & Moorhead

There’s just something nostalgic about sleigh rides at holiday time. And we’ve found all the spots you can get a sleigh ride or carriage ride in Fargo and Moorhead, pulled by real horses!

Check out one of these great events to book your ride today and feel all the holiday magic. Hurry, they book quickly!

Sleigh Rides in Fargo & Moorhead

Holiday Lights at the Fairgrounds

Dates: Open December 7 – 10, then nightly starting December 11 – 31 from 5:30 – 10:00 p.m.

Cost: $15 per person (2 and under no charge), or a private carriage can be booked for 10 people at $200, or 6 people at $100.

How to Book: MUST CALL 701-429-0496 AHEAD TO BOOK. No exceptions. Rides provided by Luxury Carriages.

Holly Days in Horace

Dates: Saturday, December 9th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Cost: Free

How to Book: No need to book ahead, but rides are only happening from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Other Details: Event goes from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and also includes a vendor market, fire pits and s’mores, crafts, a photo booth, and a special visit from the Gingerbread man!

Santa Village at Rheault Farm

Dates: December 9 & 10 from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m.; December 15 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. (sensory-friendly night); December 16 & 17 from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m.; December 21 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.; December 22 from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Cost: $2.50 per person

How to Book: Santa Village is free to attend, and you can get tickets for the carriage rides inside at the concession stand during their operating hours.

Other Details: Hot cocoa and snacks can be purchased inside at the concessions. Other activities are available at Santa Village (cookie decorating, crafts and games/play, visiting Santa & Mrs. Claus). During the evening hours/dark there are lights on at Rheault Farm, so this is a recommended time to go!

Waffles with Santa at Crooked Lane Farm (Colfax, ND)

Dates: December 16 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Cost: $5 per person.

How to Book: No need to book ahead.

Other Details: Event includes a waffle bar, sausage, juice, milk, and coffee. Entry for the event is $10 for adults and $5 for kids 10 and under. Bake sale and photo opportunities available. 

Broadway Horse & Carriage Rides by First Avenue Market

*Note: This event has sold out for 2023. 

Dates: December 14 at 6:00, 6:30, & 7:00 p.m.; December 21 at 6:00 and 6:30 p.m.

Cost: $16 per person.

How to Book: Ticket details can be found on Eventbrite.

Other Details: Hot cocoa included. There is a limit of 16 riders per time slot. Arrive at First Avenue Market 15 minutes prior to your ride time.

Sleigh Rides at M.B. Johnson Park

Dates: December 26, 28, & 29 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.; December 27 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Cost: $5 per person (children 2 and under are free)

How to Book: Call the Moorhead Parks office at 218.299.5340 to reserve a spot. Tickets may be purchased on site if space allows, but reservations are recommended.

Other Details: Holiday treats and refreshments will be available at the small shelter.
