Meet Sharon Traylor!
How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
How long have you lived in the Fargo-Moorhead area?
We have lived here for 8 years.
What do you do for a living?
I am co-owner of Roots Barbershop and Salon in West Fargo (along with Brenna Fisher and Reggie Wilcox). I am a master barber there as well, and sell my paintings on the side. I have also been cutting hair at the Cass County jail for three years now. 
What do you love about owning a local business?
I love co-owning a local business because I get to serve the community and build relationships amongst the people I live around. These are relationships that will have good meaning in my life.
What are your hobbies/what do you like to do?
My hobbies are painting, yard work, photography, and hosting my radio show “Sharing with Sharon and Friends” on Monday’s at 11:30 a.m. on Radio Free Fargo 95.9. 
You’re North Dakota’s first Black woman barber – what drew you to that work?
A fellow barber asked me one year if I wanted to go to barber college because I was inquiring about braiding hair at a local barbershop. I decided to do it, and it was a great decision. I passed the state board exam and have now been a Master Barber for almost 5 years.
What is one piece of advice you’d give to other entrepreneur mothers?
What’s your favorite local spot in Fargo-Moorhead?
Drunken Noodle, Indian Palace, and Casa Mexico.
What do you love about raising a family in the FM area?
What I like most about raising kids here is that it’s peaceful and quiet. I am able to focus on my goals and accomplish them with little to nothing coming against me.

Sharon is the co-owner and Master Barber at Roots Barber Shop and Salon. She is passionate about community, and feels she is creating a community that loves its “ROOTS” through her work at her barber shop. Sharon is the mother of 4 kids and is often found painting, cutting hair, or enjoying time with her family.
