Growlers to go, flights to sample, games and events…our local breweries in Fargo and Moorhead provide an array of entertainment and goodness to sip. Our community has been fortunate to have a number of breweries and even a cider house. Each is unique in both its craft and atmosphere. If you haven’t visited any, or have some on your list left to check out, here’s an overview of what’s out there. Keep these spots in mind for a date night, a girls night, or a place to bring the whole family!
Drekker Brewing Company/Brewhalla
Kid-friendly until 8:00 p.m.!
Sometimes the only way we get to do adult things is to bring the baby and kids along, and Drekker Brewing Company is one of our favorites for adulting! Not only are there pinball machines for older kids, but there is plenty of space for a stroller indoors and out. Overall, it’s a laid-back and local vibe.
Their sour beers have stolen our taste buds and as a result, our hearts. And all of their beers are so unique and the names have us laughing every time!
They change out their beer rotation regularly, so check their website to see what’s currently on tap.
Drekker offers some snack foods and also (seasonally) have a rotation of local food trucks onsite.
And also check out Brewhalla, just next door. It’s a place to shop and eat with a variety of vendors and all locally-owned small businesses. You can even bring your well-behaved pup along to shop!

Icewind Brewing
Kid-friendly!
This brewery and taproom is located just off I-94 in Mapleton, ND. They feature a variety of traditional and experimental beers. Check their website for a full listing of what’s on tap! They also offer pizza and pretzels on site for when you work up an appetite.
Kids are welcome at Icewind Brewing and well-behaved dogs are allowed on the patio.

Junkyard Brewing
Kid-friendly!
Junkyard has been a staple of the Fargo-Moorhead brewery scene since 2013. Their environment is family-friendly and inviting.
Minors are allowed through dinner time, as long as they’re accompanied by a parent. And Junkyard is a great place to bring the family. Their West Fargo location has tons of space, plus a patio deck to enjoy in the summer time!
Specializing in new and experimental styles, their drink menu changes often. Check out their Moorhead website and West Fargo website for a current listing!
In addition, their Moorhead next door neighbor, Sol Avenue Kitchen, is a convenient choice for food to accompany the beers.
If Moorhead isn’t your neighborhood, check out their new location in West Fargo! They have the same hours but different tap list, including some other local brews. They also have “Sundays with Sandy’s”; buy a pint, get a free Sandy’s donut while supplies last. You know this will be an easy sell for the kids! Swing Barrel Brewing

Housed in a historic brick building in downtown Moorhead, Swing Barrel is the newest of the local breweries in Fargo and Moorhead. They opened their doors in 2020. They have a large taproom and patio, and are kid-friendly all the time!

Wild Terra

This kid (and dog*) friendly cider bar has both indoor and outdoor seating options. And if your family likes a little competition, head upstairs to enjoy various card and board games available.
There’s something for everyone at Wild Terra! They offer N/A options, regional beers, wine, cocktails, and, of course, a rotation of dry to sweet ciders on tap. Delicious pizza available on-site from Heggies Pizza.
