Whether you are looking for a place for self-care and fitness, or just a spot to bring the while family to burn energy, the YMCA in Fargo is the perfect spot to do both!

A membership to the YMCA of the Northern Sky (formerly the YMCA of Cass & Clay Counties) has so many benefits. From childcare on-site while you work out (or use the sauna!) to fun, kid-friendly programs and events, here’s why you should consider a YMCA Membership.

Fitness Made Easy

No matter your preferred way to work out, YMCA has something for you! Over 100 fitness classes are available, including yoga, cycling, pilates, HIIT, Zumba®, and more. Personal training is available, as well as water fitness and the newest trend in fitness called EGYM®.

Their fitness equipment is available any time of day, and their Schlossman location is also open before and after hours from 4:00 a.m. to opening and closing to midnight.

The best part? There’s childcare right on site with YMCA Play Town! Care is available for ages six weeks to eight years old at both the Schlossman and Fercho YMCA, for up to two hours per day (parents must stay on site).

Self-Care Time

As moms, we know how important it is to take care of both our physical and mental health. With fitness classes that take care of your body and mind, a warm water pool and whirlpool to relax in, and even a sauna, the YMCA can help you take care of you.

Don’t feel like working out one day, but need some alone time? Drop the kids off at Play Town and relax in the whirlpool or sauna, take an uninterrupted shower, or relax during some candlelight yoga.

Watch the YMCA event calendar for special events and retreats geared towards women!

Fun for Kids

Yes, we’ve mentioned YMCA Play Town (which is fun for the kids and you!), but there is so much for kids to do at the YMCA. From open play to kid’s programs, here are our favorite features for kids:

Sunday Funday

A special feature at the Fercho YMCA is Sunday Funday! Not only can kid’s play in the Kid’s Gym, Gymnastics Room, and Basketball Gym, but the Wibit (a giant water obstacle course) is set up in the pool area! This special fun day is free for YMCA members and available at cost for non-members.

Discounts on Youth Programs

Looking to introduce the kids to a variety of sports? The YMCA is the perfect place to try out different activities like basketball, dance, flag football, gymnastics, volleyball, soccer, and more.

Activities are broken into short, 6-week sessions, making it easier for parents to try a variety of options to find out what their child loves. Some programs start as young as 2-3 years old!

Members also receive discounts for swimming lessons, summer camps, and kid’s clubs (including art, cooking, LEGO®, and Pokemon®).

Kathy Schommer is the Owner and Founder of Fargo Mom. She is a (nearly) lifelong North Dakotan, married to her college sweetheart, and has 3 rambunctious girls. Kathy is passionate about connecting moms, advocating for maternal mental health, and giving back to this wonderful community any way she can. She loves all things crafting, attempting to read books not related to parenting, and drinking hot coffee every chance she gets. When Kathy’s not attempting to work with her kids yelling in the background, you might find her at one of the local breweries or coffee bars in the area or attempting to find unique treasures at a local thrift store.
