As parents, we’re wired to notice when our child could use extra support. Whether that’s help with confidence, movement, social skills, emotions, or simply finding a place where they belong. But too often, families hit a familiar wall: their child doesn’t qualify, insurance won’t cover it, or the cost feels impossible

That’s where House of Everyday Learning comes in.

House of Everyday Learning (HOEL) is a local non-profit created to fill the gaps that families experience every day. Especially when meaningful, evidence-based opportunities exist, but access does not.

What Is House of Everyday Learning?

House of Everyday Learning is a Fargo-based non-profit dedicated to supporting children of all abilities through inclusive programs, therapeutic camps, scholarships, and community-based outreach.

Our mission is simple but powerful: to make growth, connection, and learning accessible, regardless of diagnosis, distance, or financial barriers.

HOEL partners closely with trusted local providers such as Beyond Boundaries Therapy & Wellness, Music Therapy in Motion, LLC and NDSU Bison Strides to offer programming that supports the whole child: physically, emotionally, socially, and developmentally.

What Does HOEL Offer Families?

HOEL focuses on services that are incredibly valuable for children but are often not covered by insurance or available through traditional systems.

Some of the ways we support families include:

  • Inclusive therapeutic camps designed for children of all abilities led by professional therapists.
  • Scholarships to help offset the cost of specialty programs and camps.
  • Access to therapies not typically covered by insurance, such as Equine-assisted therapy and music therapy.
  • Community-based and rural outreach, including bringing therapy services to rural North Dakota with their Mobile Therapy Unit.
  • Programs that emphasize connection, confidence, and everyday skills, not just clinical milestones.

These offerings allow children to learn through play, movement, creativity, and relationships, while giving parents reassurance that their child is supported in meaningful ways; despite their ability or diagnosis.

Hear from Cassidy about what HOEL programs have meant for her family and her daughter:

“When Everly was born, we had no idea what her quality of life would be. Through the House of Everyday Learning and through the safe, controlled environment of having therapy-led extra-curriculars, it allowed her to experience friendship for the first time in a really real way. It allowed her to come out of her shell and become the person she was always meant to be. It fostered her development in a really special way.”

Why HOEL Exists (And Why It Matters)

Many families don’t qualify for traditional services but still know their child would benefit from extra support. Others qualify, but can’t afford the cost of non-covered programs. Some live in rural areas where services are limited or hours away.

HOEL exists for those families.

By applying for grants, partnering with community organizations, and participating in major fundraising efforts like Giving Hearts Day, HOEL is able to lower costs, expand access, and offer partial scholarships so more children can participate.

Giving Hearts Day: How Our Community Makes This Possible

Giving Hearts Day is one of the biggest ways HOEL is able to say yes to families.

Every dollar donated helps:

  • Reduce the cost of camps and programs
  • Fund scholarships for families who need financial support
  • Expand outreach to underserved and rural communities
  • Sustain services that make a lasting impact on children’s everyday lives

This year, HOEL is working intentionally to lower program costs while still offering high-quality, inclusive experiences and Giving Hearts Day plays a crucial role in making that possible.
