Art + Autism: Shape + Movement

April 21 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Plains Art Museum welcomes families with youth ages 12-17 years old with autism. On this day we will welcome all families with an activity and explain our visit. Then, we will view Ikíćiksapa, an exhibition of the vibrant paintings by respected artist Oscar Howe. Inside the gallery, we will participate in hands-on artwork-related activities exploring color, shape, writing, drawing, and body movement.
We will enjoy a snack of goldfish and juice or water before moving into the studio activity. During this time, we will provide materials to make an artist-inspired artwork to take home.
All sessions are developed and instructed by Plains Art Museum Education Staff and Special Education professionals for families with children with Autism.
Parents/caregivers will receive a welcoming packet a week before the event via email and may request an orientation before the event – contact [email protected] to schedule.
