Horseback Riding Near Fargo

3 Gems Tack & Stable

1177 85th Ave NW, Moorhead, MN

Located within three miles of the city limits of Fargo, the focus at 3 Gems Tack & Stable is to build horse and rider relationships. Their Riding Academy features two sets of progressive programs that teach knowledge and skills in horsemanship (horse riding) and horse keeping (non-riding horse care). Also, when students pass a level they are rewarded with colorful ribbons to celebrate their progress. Check their website for more information on lesson rates and the option to lease a horse.

Bison Strides (NDSU)

5140 19th Ave N, Fargo

Bison Strides serves individuals with physical, cognitive, emotional, behavioral and mental health challenges. They offer programs that support physical and occupational therapy, and teaches individuals skills in horsemanship. They also have a program for Veterans! Check their website for more information. 

Countryside Stable

10456 40th St S, Moorhead, MN

Another local Moorhead facility that offers horseback riding lessons for kids and adults, from beginners to more advanced riders. See their Facebook page for details and contact information.

Jubilee Equine

1119 Wall Ave, Horace, ND

Jubilee Equine offers lessons for beginning to advanced riders. These lessons can be private or in small groups of two to four riders. Their instructors and seasoned lesson horses provide riders with a fun and educational experience. Also, they teach in both English and Western disciplines. Might Oaks Equestrian Center

Moorhead Community Education

Hightail Horse Ranch & Sanctuary, 28953 15th Ave N, Hawley, MN

Learn to ride over the course of three weeks in this class through Moorhead Community Education. This class teaches beginner horse riding and handling basics and at the Hightail Horse Ranch & Sanctuary. However, these classes are only offered at certain times of the year, please check the Moorhead Community Education website for more information.

Red River Equestrian Center

5062 120th Ave N, Moorhead, MN

Within 20 miles of Fargo-Moorhead, this family-run equestrian center is located on 10 acres just north of Moorhead, MN. It’s a place where people can enjoy horses and the outdoors. And they provide lessons for beginners, advanced, and jumper lessons. In addition, all lessons align with German Riding School principles, which emphasize a safe and structured approach to riding and horsemanship. Riding For Dreams (Lisbon, ND)

Another program that services individuals with a disability, this organization in Lisbon, ND has been operating since 2009. Read more about their programs on their website. 

Rusty K Ranch

4472 159th Ave SE, Davenport, ND

Rusty K Ranch is a third generation family-owned ranch that offers a variety of camps, riding programs, birthday parties, carriage rides, sleigh rides, and more. Kids and adults can increase their knowledge of riding, groundwork, and all things horse. Check out their Facebook page for more information.

  1. This is a great list; what a fun summer idea! NDSU also has a therapy/horsemanship program called Bison Strides, and financial aid is available for those who qualify.
