Free Sourdough Starter Class @ Creative Kitchen

We’re hosting a free Sourdough Starter Class right in front of our store on August 11th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

An instructor from The 1889 will teach attendees how to create a sourdough starter from scratch. The first 15 attendees will receive a free Brod & Taylor sourdough starter kit to use during the hands‑on portion. Each session is 30 minutes (with a maximum of 2 sessions and 15 people per session), and anyone who prefers to simply watch can still join, learn, and ask questions. We can also pair a parent and a teenager and they can share 1 starter kit together as well.

The instructor will also provide sourdough samples, recipes, and step‑by‑step guidance on how to create, feed, and maintain a starter at home. If we have more than 15 attendees, we’ll run a second 30‑minute session for overflow, and those participants will have the option to purchase a starter jar or kit at a discount. The class itself will remain free, and the instructor will be available throughout the event to answer sourdough questions.

We’ll also have a giveaway and discounts on all sourdough products during the event. This class is geared toward teenagers and adults, and attendees 14 and up are welcome to join with a parent or guardian. Creating a starter is often the most confusing step, so this event is designed to make that first step approachable and fun.
