Our children are born as natural learners, with a desire to explore and discover the world around them. As parents, we want to equip them with the skills to learn independently, think critically, and problem-solve on their own.

Montessori-based childcare centers, like Children’s Montessori in Fargo, are built to serve children and their curiosity first. Using Montessori principles, Children’s Montessori guides children through self-motivated learning and play to help them grow in the four developmental areas of early childhood education: cognitive, language, social-emotional, and physical.

So, what exactly is Montessori?

The Montessori method is an approach to education, where children are encouraged to be self-directed in their play and how they learn. The goal is to create a strong foundation for children to become motivated, independent learners all the way through adulthood. Each classroom is set up in a way to encourage children to learn on their own and in groups, develop confidence in relationships with others, and to satisfy their curious nature and desire to explore.

Preschoolers (Age 3-5)

NEW! Elementary Age

In the Fall of 2025, Children’s Montessori will open an elementary school on North University Drive called Bello Mondo (meaning beautiful world). It will be for children ages Kindergarten through grade 5. The guides, or teachers, will work with students in all curriculum areas at their own pace.

The school was built as a Montessori setting, with a Great Plains theme. Students will engage in art, music, physical activity, and service learning. The classrooms will offer small class sizes, with an emphasis on the joy of learning, independence, kindness, and community.

More about Children’s Montessori

In addition to academic and developmental learning, service learning is also an important philosophy at Children’s Montessori School. Projects have included book donation fairs, making cards for veterans, mitten trees, food donation drives, pairing with Heiffer International in a Dimes for Ducklings campaign, and pet food donations for local shelters. These teach children the power of empathy and caring.

Children’s Montessori also offers small class sizes, and affordable options for fees and tuition so any family may benefit from this classical model of education.

Parent involvement is a big part of the Children’s Montessori community, and they have an established Parent-Teacher Organization. Each school celebrates childhood through annual events including an art fair and show, a Thanksgiving feast, gingerbread house decorating with families, Trunk-or-Treat, and Spring cook-out.
