Fargo Parks FREE Summer Events 2024

Fargo Parks has a full lineup of FREE events to get your family outdoors this summer! Check out all the fun activities they have planned throughout the summer below, and make sure to mark your calendar so you don’t miss out on the fun!

Please note all events are FREE and no pre-registration is required (unless otherwise noted). 

Neighborhood Sport Series

Dates & Locations:

All events are 1:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Join Fargo Parks for a summer of outdoor fun and games in the community! From football to four square, there’s something for everyone to enjoy:

Park It! Art in the Park Series

Dates & Locations:

All events are 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Let creativity flourish this summer with kid’s arts and crafts at the park! Each Park It event takes place at a local park, offering kids the opportunity to unleash their imagination and explore a new park at the same time! 

All crafting supplies will be provided, but adult supervision is required. At the end of each session, children can take home their handmade creations. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to bond with nature while exploring your artistic talents!

Midwest Kid Fest

Dates: June 14, 10:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. 

Location: Island Park

This annual event is back for it’s 25th year! Head to Island Park on June 14th for a TON of fun kid-friendly activities. Kick off the festivities with the Teddy Bear Parade, starting promptly at 10:30 am. Don’t forget to bring along your favorite teddy bear pal as well as a canned food donation for the Great Plains Food Bank. 

After the parade, explore the variety of booth activities offering engaging games, crafts, and opportunities to learn something new. Plus, discover a sensory-friendly space provided by Leika Sensory Creations, featuring a range of sensory toys.

There will be food vendors and live entertainment on the main stage, as well as inflatable games and barrel rides. Round out the day with Lalo’s Lunchbox hitting the main stage at 5:00 pm.

Every activity is completely free!

Yoga in the Park

Dates: Wednesdays, June 5 – August 14, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Location: Rheault Farm

Come together for a fun community outdoor yoga experience! This weekly event promises and opportunity for relaxation, rejuvenation and connection with yoga instructors from Courts Plus and the YMCA of Cass & Clay Counties. 

While attendance is complimentary, a $5 free will donation is encouraged, with proceeds benefiting local charities. Don’t forget to bring your yoga mat!

Trout Fest

Dates: June 19, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Location: Woodhaven North Pond

Dive into a “reel” adventure at Trout Fest, where families can experience the joy of fishing right in the city of Fargo! The fishing derby will be held for participants ages 15 and younger. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a first-time fisher, everyone is welcome to participate!

Adult supervision is suggested to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Plus there will be fantastic giveaways (available while supplies last) and an award presentation after the event.

Note: Registration is required, but can be done on-site before the event.

Monstrous Imagination

Dates: June 24 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Location: Forest River Park

Unleash your creativity at Monstrous Imagination, an enchanting arts and crafts event. From googly eyes to colorful fur, let your creativity run wild as you bring your monstrous creations to life! After crafting, take a monster hike along the scenic trails at Forest River Park. Don’t forget to pack a water bottle, snack, and sunscreen to keep you fueled and protected.

While there will be a portable restroom available, please note that there is no permanent shelter or running water at the location.

Kids Triathlon

Dates: June 25, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Location: Madison Park & Bicycle Playground

Get ready for the Kids Triathlon, an action-packed event designed for kids 12 and under! Participants can test their skills in biking, challenging obstacle courses, and a disc throwing activity. Don’t forget your bike or helmet, as bike helmets are required for all participants. Plus, everyone will get to make their own medals as part of a craft activity!

Music in the Park

Dates: June 27 & July 18 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Location: Broadway Square (June 27) & Island Park (July 18)

What sounds better than an evening in the park, vibing to some live music? Music in the Park will bring you a great showcase of live music that’s sure to have something for everyone. Bring along a blanket and pack some tasty snacks, and get ready to relax and enjoy the music.

701 Day

Dates: July 1, 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Location: Broadway Square

Join us for 701 Day! A day dedicated to honor why we love living in the 701 area code. Get ready for photo ops, live music performances, and more. Embrace the North Dakota spirit at this day of celebration and pride in our beloved 701 community.

Fearless Friends (Taylor’s Version)

Date: July 11 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Location: Friendship Park

Get ready for a celebration of friendship and all things Taylor Swift with Fearless Friends (Taylor’s Version)! This event is dedicated to recognizing the bonds of friendship while enjoying the magic of Taylor Swift’s music.

Activities include:

  • Friendship bracelet making 
  • DJ Pretty Ricky spinning Taylor’s greatest hits
  • Live lip sync performances on stage to your favorite Taylor Swift Songs 
  • Photo ops with Taylor-themed backdrops 
  • Polaroid picture stations to capture special moments
  •  Make your own sunglasses station

Gather your squad and head to the park for a night filled with friendship and fun. Whether you’re singing Taylor Swift’s iconic lyrics, crafting friendship bracelets, or striking a pose for the perfect photo, Fearless Friends promises to be an event to remember.

Movies in the Park

Dates: July 11, July 19 & July 25, dusk (about 9:00 p.m.)

Location: Rheault Farm

  • July 11: Elemental (PG)
  • July 19: Space Jam (PG)
  • July 25: The Parent Trap (PG)

Grab your blankets and chairs for a fun Movie in the Park series! All movies will be shown at Rheault Farm this summer and admission is FREE! Movies start at dusk (typically around 9:00 p.m.) and the movie line-up is both nostalgic and family-friendly!

Pack some snacks and head to the farm a little early and test your trivia knowledge of the movie being shown. The winner gets a movie gift basket!
