It’s almost election time, and we want to share some details surrounding when and how to vote in Fargo and Moorhead. Whether you are in Fargo or West Fargo (Cass County) or Moorhead (Clay County), we have all the information you to vote by early mail, early in person, or on Election Day!

VOTING IN NORTH DAKOTA

Full details on voting in ND can be found at vote.nd.gov.

Registering to Vote

ND does not require voters to register to vote, but to vote in person you’ll need a valid ID. If you have moved, be sure to update your address here.

ID Required

Whether you vote by absentee ballot or in-person, valid identification including your name, current address, and date of birth is required. Options include a North Dakota driver’s license, a nondriver’s ID, or an ID issued by a tribal government.
If a voter you can’t update your current address before election day, then you MUST bring a document showing your current residential address (such as a lease, utility bill, or bank statement).

Early Voting By Mail or Drop-Off

You must submit an application for an absentee ballot and return your completed ballot by mail or drop-off (at the Cass County Courthouse’s ballot drop box) by 5:00 p.m. on November 4th (the day before the election). Mail-in ballots must be postmarked by this date as well.

Early Voting In-Person

You can vote early in person on the following dates, along with a valid ID.

October 29 – November 1 (11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.) & November 2 (11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.)

Voting In-Person on Election Day

Vote in person on Election Day, November 5, 2024, between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at these locations:

Registering to Vote

You must register to vote in Minnesota. You can check if you are registered to vote or register online here.

You can also register to vote on Election Day with proper documentation.

ID Required

Once you register to vote, you do not need to show ID when you show up to your assigned polling place. If you did NOT register to vote before Election Day, you must show proof of your current address. For example, you can show a current Minnesota driver’s license or state ID. Or you can show a photo ID that has your old address, along with a bill that shows your current address.

Early Voting by Mail or Drop-Off

You must submit an application for an absentee ballot by mail prior to voting by mail or drop-off. Your returned ballot must be postmarked on or before Election Day (November 5, 2024). They can also be returned by mail or dropped off no later than 3:00 p.m. on November 5th at the Clay County Courthouse (807 11th St N, Moorhead).

Early Voting in Person

Once you are registered to vote, you can vote early between September 20th – November 4t at the Clay County Election Office (Clay County Auditor, 3510 12th Ave S, Moorhead).

Vote in Person on Election Day

You can vote at your designated polling location on November 5, 2024 between 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Find a list of polling places by ward here, or a map of polling locations by ward here.
