Monday Matinee @ West Fargo Public Library

Monday Matinees at the West Fargo Public Library are free movie screenings on our big screen, complete with complimentary popcorn. These events are free and open to the public. However, seating is limited based on room capacity. Each month, our movie selections are based on a different theme.

December’s films are all about baseball.

• 12/1/25 – A League of Their Own (1992) PG
  • A look at the first women’s professional baseball league is set during World War II and focuses on the rivalry between sisters, one a sweet-swinging catcher and the other a pouty, impulsive pitcher, who play on the same team, which is managed by a washed-up, hard-drinking ex-Major Leaguer.
• 12/8/25 – The Rookie (2002) G
  • Fact-based tale about Jim Morris, a high-school teacher and coach who makes it to the Major Leagues as a 35-year-old relief pitcher. A pitching phenom in his youth, Morris is convinced by the kids on his team to give the big leagues one more shot. Soon he gets a second chance to live his dreams at an age when most ballplayers are pondering retirement.
• 12/15/25 – Field of Dreams (1989) PG
  • Capra-esque Americana about an Iowa farmer who heeds an ethereal proposition: “If you build it, he will come.” So he lays out a baseball diamond in his cornfield, and who should show up but long-dead ballplayer Shoeless Joe Jackson and a squadful of departed Major Leaguers.
• 12/22/25 – 42 (2013) PG-13
  • “42” tells the story of two men—the great Jackie Robinson and legendary Brooklyn Dodgers GM Branch Rickey—whose brave stand against prejudice forever changed the world by changing the game of baseball.
• 12/29/25 – Angels in the Outfield (1994) PG
  • A young baseball fan prays for help for his losing team and his prayers are answered by an angel. A remake of the 1951 film of the same name.
