DESCRIPTION:Did you know a new space telescope is launching? Let’s celebrate at the MSUM Planetarium! \nThis event is best for ages 10 and under. \nFrom 8:30 to 10:30am\, we will be hosting a free open house style event! \nCome to the Planetarium for the following: \nFree activities including: \n\nBuilding and launching your own air powered rocket\nHelping add onto our moon base\ncreating your own mission patch\nVeiws of our sun through solar telescopes (weather and volenteer permitting)\nAND MORE!\n\nAdditionally\, we will have a looping of 3-5 minute videos about the telescope under the stars inside the Planetarium designed for ages 10 and under. \nExpect around 30-45 minutes of fun during your visit! \n\n\nFor our older friends\, we will be hosting a science breifing at 7pm (with additional shows added if needed). Tickets are $5\, and you can get them on our page. \nNamed after NASA’s first chief astronomer\, the ‘mother of the Hubble Space Telescope\,’ the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope will have a field of view at least 100 times larger than Hubble’s\, potentially measuring light from a billion galaxies in its lifetime. This observatory will also be able to block starlight to directly see exoplanets and planet-forming disks\, complete a statistical census of planetary systems in our galaxy\, and settle essential questions in the areas of dark energy\, exoplanets\, and infrared astrophysics. \nThis event will not feature the launch of the telescope.
