This is my very first blog post on my new site, Fargomom.com! I’m so excited to start blogging again, and sharing a little bit of my everyday life! I often say that I have “Bing brain”, as in one thought quickly becomes another, and before you know it you’ve forgotten your original thought. Like Bing. Or Google. You get it. Wait, where was I going with this? (See how that works?)
Anyway…this will be a nice outlet for me to share some of those thoughts. As random as they may seem. So, welcome! I’m excited to see where this blog goes, and what this site becomes! I have several ideas…here’s hoping they some day become a reality.
So, I know it’s already October 4, but WELCOME OCTOBER! This is my most favorite month of all. What’s not to love? Crisp air, autumn colors, turning leaves, harvest, pumpkins…I could go on and on.
But most of all…Halloween. I simply love Halloween.
And lucky for me, Jade is following in my footsteps. She has decided she is going to be a witch this year. A good witch, to be exact. I love how she is getting excited right along with me. For those of you who don’t know…Jade used to be deathly afraid of pumpkins. Halloween 2013 was a rough one for our house. She literally screamed at the sight of a pumpkin.
I never understood it. Well, maybe it was a flashback from Halloween 2012, when I thought it would be a good idea to do a photo shoot with her inside a pumpkin. Thanks a lot, Pinterest.
Anyway, Jade is finally over her fear of pumpkins. And loving Halloween!
We did a lot of fun Halloween activities together this weekend. We decorated the house, played Halloween bingo, read some spooky books, and even made some yummy Halloween desserts. At one point Jade even asked “what time is Halloween?” Ok, so maybe we’ll have to tone it down a little bit, or she will get a little antsy by the time Halloween actually rolls around. I can’t make any promises.
Until next time here are some snaps of the festivities!
Isn’t my shelf fun? I just love decorating it for the different holidays. And I’m so happy with how this turned out. It is easy to do and you can stay pretty thrifty by purchasing some of the decor items at the dollar store, dollar section at Target or on sale at Michaels. (I never buy anything full price at Michaels!)
All of the black birds were dollar store finds, and I bought the little glass jars in the $1 aisle at Target. I also added Jade’s hand print spider from when she was a baby for a personal touch. Look at how little her hands were!
Some dollar store candles and candlesticks helped finish off my spider themed centerpiece.
Jade asked me to take her picture with our front door greeters. Scary Larry is our scarecrow friend, and he just recently got a ghostly buddy who is so far, nameless.
What a fun and spooky day. Only 27 days until Halloween!
